COSM is a member of OTE Group and a member of Deutsche Telekom Group (since March/09) and was commercially launched in April/98. Today COSΜΟΤΕ accounts for more than 50% of the Greek subscribers’ base exceeding 7 million (Q4/2021).

COSΜ holds the leading market position in Greece since 2001, breaking new ground by constantly developing its networks and having an impressive record of very important firsts; the most recent among them being the launch of 5G network. Currently, COSM has the largest 5G coverage in the country (48 cities, 97% population coverage in Athens), while in certain areas the max speeds already exceed 1Gbps.

OTE Group is the largest telecommunications provider in the Greek market and one of the leading telecom groups in SE Europe, offering a full range of telecommunications services. Specifically, to the interest of the proposal, the Research and Development department of COSM can support the EUROQCI initiative by bringing in the quantum communications experience gained through the participation in the Horizon 2020 UNIQORN project.

More specifically, through the established collaboration within UNIQORN with NTUA and NKUA, shall work together to integrate, experiment and assess QKD application in three use cases, namely (1) quantum cloud data centers (2) quantum 5G and (3) quantum FTTH in WP4. COSM shall support use case analysis, architecture, design and validation activities from the telecom operator perspective and can offer lab-scale simulation environments to facilitate the preliminary studies from Phase 0.
