HellasQCI and the Photonic Communications Research Laboratory (PCRL) proudly announce the upcoming expert talk on Global Range Quantum Networking by Dr. Jasminder Sidhu, on 9th July 2025 at the Distance Learning Room, NTUA.

Dr. Jasminder Sidhu, Quantum Technologies Research Fellow in Satellite Quantum Communications at the University of Strathclyde, has a strong background in theoretical quantum optics, quantum information, and quantum communications. Starting from the premise that developing distributed quantum technologies requires coordinated advances across the entire quantum networking stack, Dr. Sidhu will outline recent progress at both the protocol and hardware levels.

His presentation will highlight how spacebased initiatives and novel protocols—particularly those defining the physical layer architecture—enhance compatibility across diverse network domains, enabling the transition from regional and metropolitan quantum networks to globalscale connectivity.

Key topics include:

  • Progress in spacebased initiatives
  • Physical layer novel protocols
  • Compatibility across diverse quantum network domains
  • Recent entanglement distribution strategies and their impact on quantum memory architecture

The session will close with a discussion of pressing open challenges in the field, including the entanglement distribution protocols and their implications for the design of quantum memories.

A high-level event that presents the future of quantum technologies and networking. Not to be missed.
