MINISTRY OF DIGITAL GOVERNANCE
The Greek Ministry of Digital Governance has been at the forefront of the country’s digital transformation since its establishment in 2019. As the public administration unit responsible for integrating all critical IT and telecommunications structures, the Ministry plays a vital role in advancing the broader digital transformation of Greece.
The Ministry’s primary mission is to build a modern, efficient, and inclusive digital government that enhances citizens’ lives, promotes transparency, and drives economic growth. By leveraging digital technologies, the Ministry aims to revolutionize public services and improve governance by ensuring the security and protection of digital systems and data. The Ministry of Digital Governance adopts a citizen-centric approach which focuses on creating a more connected and inclusive society while addressing and mitigating social inequalities.
As a partner of the HellasQCI project, the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance supports the implementation of HellasQCI to improve communication infrastructures’ security in alignment with the EU’s respective cybersecurity strategy. In 2019, the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance signed the EuroQCI Declaration, committing to collaborate with EU Member States, the European Commission, and the European Space Agency on the European Quantum Communication infrastructure, to be operational by 2030.
On December 6, 2023, the Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to quantum technology initiatives by being among the first 11 EU Member States to sign the European Declaration on Quantum Technologies, underlining the strategic importance of quantum advancements for the EU’s scientific and industrial leadership. As part of this commitment, the Ministry is hence steering Greece’s Quantum Communication Infrastructure- HellasQCI policy and sets the overarching goal of deploying an operational EuroQCI network.
