HellasQCI and SEEWQCI were featured at BEYOND 2026, the International Digital Technology & Innovation Exhibition, held from 17 to 19 June 2026 at the Metropolitan Expo in Athens, as part of GRNET’s participation in the Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence pavilion.

Throughout the three-day event, visitors had the opportunity to discover HellasQCI and SEEWQCI through audiovisual presentations and informational material, gaining insights into their objectives, progress and contribution to the development of secure quantum communication infrastructures in Greece and across Europe. The projects also highlighted their role in supporting the broader EuroQCI vision for a pan-European quantum communication network.

As part of the exhibition programme, Dimitris Katsianis, Deputy Chairman of GRNET and Assistant Professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), participated in the panel discussion “Quantum Computing: Challenges and Opportunities”, where he highlighted GRNET’s leading role in advancing quantum communication infrastructures through the HellasQCI and SEEWQCI initiatives.

Professor Katsianis presented the progress of HellasQCI, Greece’s National Quantum Communication Infrastructure, which is deploying a network of 22 nodes and more than 650 kilometres of optical fibre across Athens, Thessaloniki and Heraklion. He also outlined SEEWQCI’s role in extending secure quantum connectivity beyond national borders, reinforcing the development of an interoperable European quantum communication infrastructure under EuroQCI.

The discussion further explored the convergence of quantum technologies, High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Artificial Intelligence, emphasizing the strategic importance of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technologies and secure quantum communications in addressing future cybersecurity challenges, while highlighting the long-term vision of integrating quantum computing capabilities with European supercomputing infrastructures.

BEYOND 2026 provided a valuable platform for engaging with stakeholders from government, academia, research organisations, industry and the innovation ecosystem, while increasing awareness of the role of quantum communication technologies in building secure and resilient digital infrastructures for Europe. As quantum technologies continue to evolve, HellasQCI and SEEWQCI remain at the forefront of Europe’s efforts to establish trusted quantum communication infrastructures and enable a secure quantum-enabled future.
